Does a Christian have any special responsibilities at work?
If we were living in the first century we would understand the concept of Masters and Slaves. That was the order of things at that point in time. Today the closest thing we have is Bosses and Workers. We can apply the instructions given to the first century masters and slaves to the work invironment of today and know what we are suppose to do. The attitude that the believer is to have at work and toward those over them directly reflects their obedience and relationship with Christ Jesus. In scripture this is broken down into two parts, masters and slaves. The slaves are the workers. The christian workers are given clear instructions about how they are supposed to approach their jobs. They are to follow the instructions of their bosses in doing their jobs. They are to do this so that they can win others over and be an example of the Lords work in their lives. A key to the Christian worker is that they are to work whether they are being watched by their bosses or not. This is because we are working for God and not for men. Everything we do is for God and his reward is greater than anything any man can pay. If a worker does not do this he will not only face the possibility of being fired he will also have to answer to God.
The masters or bosses are to treat the workers properly. They are suppose to be fair and remember that they will be judged by God for how they treat those who work for them.
A Christian believer has the responsibility to work at their jobs and remember that they represent Christ in all they do. We are connected to Christ trru our work and jobs as representatives of Jesus.
